[English]  Medhi has never known his father. He was 11 when his mother died. A friend of his family sent him to Pakistan, to work in a carpet factory. Two years later, he fled to Iran with other boys. But life in Iran is difficult for Afghan refugees, sleeping in shantytowns and picking up plastic bags for retailing. He decided to leave and try to reach Europe. After a six-month trip, at 14, he spent two weeks in Paris before trying his luck for northern Europe.<br />

[Francais]  Mehdi n'a jamais connu son pere. Il n'avait que 11 ans quand sa mere est decedee et qu'un ami de la famille l'a emmene travailler dans un atelier de tapis au Pakistan. Deux ans plus tard, il s'est enfuit en Iran avec d'autres jeunes. Les conditions de vie en Iran pour les sans papiers sont difficiles, Mehdi ramassait des sacs plastiques pour les revendre et dormait dans les bidonvilles de la banlieue de Teheran. Il a alors tente sa chance pour l'Europe. Apres 6 mois de voyage et a 14 ans, il passera deux semaines a Paris avant de continuer son exil plus au nord.
